The Material Resources blog is no longer being updated! However, you can follow me on Twitter, drop in to my Posterous where I occasionally post things and of course check out IOM3's superb new website (which I manage) at www.iom3.org On the latter you'll find dozens of new articles every month by materials, minerals and mining professionals, as well as a host of other essential information on IOM3 services and communities, and improved features including forums and content alerts. Look forward to seeing you there!

Best wishes

Art from industrial waste

Based as I am at IOM3's London headquarters, most days I come to work via the South Bank Centre, which has recently undergone an extensive revamp. Currently outside the Royal Festival Hall is a curious Klaus Weber installation which caught my eye for its use of a black rock-type substance. In The Big Giving, 'a group of male and female figures are cast rising out of, or simultaneously sinking into volcanic-looking mounds of rock made from industrial steel waste.' Yum. The installation is on view until September.
