Russian bid for Arctic mineral riches

Russia has sent a mini-submarine 14,000 feet to the floor of the Arctic Ocean to stake the country's claim to Lomonosov Ridge, an underwater shelf. 'There is yellowish gravel down there,' reported expedition leader Artur Chilingarov.
